"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2
WEDNESDAY MORNING STUDIES | 10:00 AM
classes start JANUARY 17, 2018
The Gospel of Luke—Led by Marty Cates
"WWJD," four letters that are forever burned in our memories thanks to the bracelets, shirts, books, CDs, conferences, bumper stickers, and other paraphernalia that hit the markets in the 90s and early 2000s.
“What Would Jesus Do?” and Why is that question so hard to: 1. Answer and 2. Live Out? The Gospel of Luke gives us a picture of what the imitation of Christ looks like and how in our pursuit of it our Love for God and Others Grows.
Judges, By Jen Wilkin—Led by Cathy Whitehead and Becky Nettles
Can you name any of the judges? Did you know one of the judges was a woman?!? Did you know that in the days of the Judges everyone did what was right in his own eyes? Sound familiar- can we apply that to our own lives? “Faithful study of God’s Word is a means for filling our spiritual storerooms with truth.”— Jen Wilkin
Join Becky and Cathy as we facilitate Jen Wilkin’s study on the book of Judges by moving through three phases of understanding: Comprehension-“what does it say?” Interpretation-“what does it mean?” and Application- “how should it change me?
Hoping for Something Better, By Nancy Guthrie—Led by Dianne Pettit and Lisa Gabriel
We will be delving into the book of Hebrews which is unique in its connection to the Old Testament. It reveals Jesus’ relationship to everything of the past: to God, to the law, to creation, to angels, to the sacrificial system, to the priesthood, to the covenants. So, we will be learning profound truths about Jesus and why He is superior to everything and everyone! Let’s study together and search for “something better”!
TUESDAY EVENING STUDY | 7:00 PM
classes begin JANUARY 30, 2018
View from the Top: Studies in the Life of Joseph, By Wallace Tinsley, Jr.—Led by Maryann Whitaker
“Genesis 37-50 covers the life story of Joseph. It expresses God’s Sovereignty over the affairs of men.” We will begin the study in Chapter 50 in order to see an overview of the entire narrative that will show God’s perspective. Then, we will explore, through the narrative, the evil intent of Joseph’s brothers in sending him into slavery in Egypt, and God’s sovereignty over Joseph’s life as he moves through God’s plan for him. The chapter questions are an integral part of the study, so there is no separate study guide.
