Allie Obrecht

I was born in Morristown, New Jersey, and first came to Sycamore at the age of 3 when my family relocated to Virginia for my dad’s role as the Associate Pastor of Sycamore. I had the opportunity to grow up in both Midlothian and Powhatan, experiencing both suburban and rural lifestyles. In 2009, my family moved to Powhatan to plant Evergreen Community Church. This was where my appreciation for activities like agriculture, horse training, and rural living developed.

Throughout my upbringing, I was aware of Jesus’ love and the profound sacrifice He made for me. However, it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I felt a strong desire to cultivate a personal relationship with Him. This desire was deepened through a physical ailment I experienced, which God used to highlight my vulnerability and demonstrate His immense love and power. During my time in high school, I felt a calling from the Lord to pursue a path in ministry that involved working with youth and individuals with special needs.

In 2019, I married my wonderful husband, Nate. We relocated to Lynchburg, VA, where he completed his senior year at Liberty University while I finished my Associate of Science degree at John Tyler Community College. I joined the Sycamore team in the summer of 2020 and have consistently witnessed the Lord’s work and His provision through the people within this community. It’s a true honor and privilege to have the opportunity to be in the lives of the youth here.

In addition to spending time with students, I find enjoyment in various activities. I love taking morning walks with our two dogs in the Midlothian Mines, exploring the Big Market farmers market in Richmond, and tubing down the James River. The beach and the mountains hold distinct places in my heart, both carrying numerous memories and offering unique experiences that I deeply value. Nate and I cherish spending time in a few favorite places: Corolla, NC; Bald Head Island, NC; and Speculator, NY.
